POST-INSTALLED ANCHOR TESTING

Hilti anchoring products are subjected to a series of tests as required by the latest code standards in accordance with ICC-ES Acceptance Criteria AC308 for adhesive anchors and ICC-ES Acceptance Criteria AC193 for mechanical anchors in concrete base materials. Below is a summary of the various tests conducted in accordance with these acceptance criteria:

  • Reference Tests determine reference tension capacity in low-strength cracked and uncracked concrete, as well as, high-strength cracked and uncracked concrete.
  • Reliability Tests identifies anchor sensitivity to hole cleaning, mixing, installation, crack width, crack width cycling, freeze/thaw, sustained load, installation direction, and torque test.
  • Service-Condition Tests determine tension capacity in low-strength cracked and uncracked concrete, high-strength cracked and uncracked concrete, elevated temperature ranges, decreased installation temperature, curing time, resistance to alkalinity and sulfur, minimum edge distance and spacing, shear capacity, seismic tension, and seismic shear.

  • Reference Tests determine reference tension capacity in low-strength cracked and uncracked concrete, as well as, high-strength cracked and uncracked concrete.
  • Reliability Tests identifies anchor sensitivity to reduced installation effort, crack width, and crack width cycling. Screw anchors are also tested to determine reliability under repeated load, brittle failure, when set with impact driver, and when set with torque wrench.
  • Service-Condition Tests determine minimum edge distance and spacing, shear capacity, seismic tension/shear, torque test, and tension/shear capacity in deck soffit.

For masonry applications, the following test standards are followed:
  • ICC-ES Acceptance Criteria AC58 for adhesive anchors in masonry
  • ICC-ES Acceptance Criteria AC01 for expansion anchors in masonry
  • ICC-ES Acceptance Criteria AC106 for screw anchors in masonry
